A 360 assessment is a powerful tool that is used at the onset of a coaching engagement but can also be a standalone product. There are two types of 360 assessment: qualitative and quantitative.
A qualitative assessment is based on confidential 1:1 interviews between the coach and at least six input reviewers who work closely with the leader. The input reviewers are a combination direct reports, peers and senior stakeholders (including their manager). A360 report summarizing key themes is shared by the coach directly with the leader and the coach. A debrief session provides the leader and opportunity to identify development areas that are of greatest importance and the coach will work with the leader to set a plan by which to measure and track their progress.
A quantitative assessment looks at a greater sample size of direct reports, peers and senior stakeholders.
The leader and their input reviewers are provided a survey which asks about key leadership competencies. Answers are collated and shared with the leader. Typically, we recommend 15 evaluators, but this number can flex higher or lower. A debrief session with a coach will help the leader interpret their results, identify which areas they want to focus on development and set a path for them to do so.
